Choosing an interior decor for a barn house can be daunting. Some might feel the need to adhere to a certain time period or style.\u00a0 Not in the 21st Century. The key to today’s practical approach in choosing interior decor is this: eclectic rules. Go with your gut when choosing your decor; from kitchen appliances, to cabinet pulls, to furniture throughout the entire barn house. Look through all the home magazines and apps for inspiration and ideas, try out small swatches of paint color on the walls, but when all is said and done, my theory is, “if you like it, do it”.\u00a0 After all, you’re not decorating for someone else, this is your home, it should reflect your personal taste and style! \"barn<\/a><\/p>\n

Eclectic Barn Houses<\/h3>\n

One thing I should make clear at this juncture; eclectic should in now way be associated with an unorganized or unplanned look. in each of the following pictures you will see beautifully put together rooms. The point I’m making is not one of them attempted to stay totally true to one period or style. You can tell from looking at the pictures that each of the homeowners did a great job putting their individual stamp on the style on their barn houses.<\/p>\n

This kitchen is an excellent combination of a late 1800’s farmhouse kitchen combined with the modern lines presented from the 10960’s right through to today.<\/p><\/div>\n

This master bedroom is an excellent combination of the masculine and the feminine. A silk duvet cover in a bold check combined with a leather-tufted headboard. The neutral color of chocolate brown could easily be a favorite color of either.<\/p><\/div>\n

This otherwise contemporary kitchen is softened by the heavy use of natural wood tones and the bold choice of Copenhagen blue.<\/p><\/div>\n

This dining room is one of my favorites because of the many influences at play here. From the rustic sliding barn doors, to the French lantern to the very American style farmhouse table, this room shows the owner’s fondness for many differing styles working in complete harmony.<\/p><\/div>\n

This carriage house is a good example of “if you like it, use it”. This happens to be my carriage house and as you can see, I am a fan of many, many different styles. I love to juxtapose and layer styles in every room. For me, the unifying factor was the beautiful post and beam frame of the house. Everything I did needed to compliment the structure and idea of a carriage house.<\/p><\/div>\n
