YBH Post and Beam Durability Is Proven In Bad Weather
Excessive heat, snow load and rain/high winds have been tested over the past 55 years Yankee Barn has been in business. With longevity comes knowledge for how our shell package system performs. Our experience in the home building business has led up to an advanced shell system that is so technically superior, parts of it are trademarked.
Sturdiness of our frame has been “field tested”. Not by choice but by a whopper of a storm. It caused a giant White Pine tree to fall on the roof of one of our older homes. Originally built in 1988, the home is located in the Northeast, an area known for wild winter Nor’easters. The home owners were enjoying a calm evening by the fireplace when their peace and quite was shattered… literally. A giant White Pine fell on top of their home. Not a glancing blow but a spot-on, center of the ridgeline, hit. Pieces of wallboard and solid core insulation flew everywhere. However, upon being examined by a structural engineer, the home owners learned the post and beam frame didn’t move more than a fraction on an inch. The house was solid. Repairs to the panels were made and the house stands today as a testament to YBH post and beam durability.
